How Court Names Work

Every name of the Court is built from two parts. The first half is fixed at birth — drawn from a cat's coloring, coat pattern, or bearing, the same way a Bengal's rosettes or a Savannah's spots are set before a kitten ever opens its eyes. The second half is earned, and it changes with rank.

Legend names are given to cats who lead by strength and nerve — bold, sharp-edged endings built for a cat who moves like it owns the room. Queen names belong to the cats who hold a household together with quiet authority — softer, more luminous endings. Shadow names go to the ones who keep to the edges and are rarely seen twice in the same spot.

It's just a bit of fun for Empress kitten owners — no two Court names are official, and every cat keeps their real, registered name for the papers that matter.
